Digital briefing, October 7: Meta's AI ad tools, Reddit's lead-gen ads

Meta rolled out new AI tools and an agent protocol for advertisers; Reddit and Microsoft also expanded B2B ad targeting.

  1. Advertising

Meta introduces new AI-powered tools for advertisers and tests in-chat purchases #

At Advertising Week New York, Meta added new capabilities to its business assistant, including more memory, context, and automatic video generation. It's also starting to test direct purchases through Meta AI, Muse, and Meta Business Agent with Shopify, Adyen, PayPal, and Stripe. A PayPal wallet was also added to Muse's payment options.

What it means for your business: For businesses that want to manage ads through chat, the assistant will now remember past campaign data — but the direct purchase features are still in testing, and there's no word yet on when they'll arrive in Turkey.

  2. Automation

Meta is working on an open standard for how personal AI assistants interact with businesses #

Meta announced it's developing an open standard called the "Personal Agent Protocol" together with Sierra and partners including Genesys, NiCE, Decagon, Rocket, Shopify, Stripe, and Walmart. The standard will define authentication and interaction rules for personal agents like Muse when they engage with business websites. Meta also laid out the principles Muse has followed on the web so far.

What it means for your business: Meta is urging businesses to work with AI assistants rather than block them from their websites — arguing that every agent request comes from a customer who has already made a purchase decision, so blocking the site could mean losing that sale.

  3. Advertising

Reddit updates its lead-gen ads with AI and new targeting options #

On October 6, Reddit added AI-powered Max campaigns to its lead gen ads and started testing "in-market" audience targeting for enterprise, business AI, and cybersecurity categories. It also added a new HubSpot integration and announced new partnerships with Bombora, Demandbase, Clay, G2, and Octane 11.

What it means for your business: According to Reddit, early tests showed that businesses advertising to in-market audiences saw roughly 7% lower acquisition costs on average compared with other targeting methods — worth considering for businesses selling B2B.

Microsoft Advertising expands LinkedIn targeting with HubSpot integration and company lists of up to 10,000 #

In its October 6 monthly newsletter, Microsoft Advertising announced a HubSpot CRM integration that feeds sales-stage data directly into its ad bidding system. It also now lets advertisers upload company lists of up to 10,000 for LinkedIn-based targeting, with lists taking one to two days to process.

What it means for your business: For B2B businesses, bulk-uploading target company lists can save time, but Microsoft hasn't yet shared public data on whether the integration actually improves lead quality.
